Colour Management - The art of making sure the red bus you see on your monitor is the same red when it is printed on your printer

Lots of variables come in here, the quality of your monitor and the graphics card, the make of printer, the inks and the brand of paper and also the type of paper, Gloss, Matt, Pearl, Art papers etc

You should have you monitor profiled, and use the correct profiles for your printer paper combination

You should start with Colour Management of your monitor. If it isn't displaying accurate colour, it's difficult to get your prints correct. A very popular and reliable piece of equipment to profile your monitor are ColorVision's Monitor Calibration Tools

Most printer manufacturers will supply profiles for their own printers and papers. Most paper manufactures also do the same. It's a matter of checking your printer or paper manufacturers web sites to download and install a profile. However this may not give 100% accurate results, the best way is to print a test image and send away to get a profile made - various people on the web provide this service. Mike Fuller (club member) does provide monitor and printer profiling servicesp>
