Check Your Monitors Calibration
Following some comments made at the AGM in May 2007 about the colours produced by the clubs projector during digital competitions last year, we can now say that the projector has been recalibrated in readiness for next season.
To ensure your images are projected at their best then follow the instructions to prepare your images.
Mike Fuller has provided the club with a test image which members should download and view on their own monitors.
- Right Click on the following link and choose 'Save Target As...' Download Test Image
- Monitors should be warmed up having been turned on for at least 30 minutes
- The monitor must be viewed in a darkened room
- The test image should be viewed within Photoshop, or whichever software is used for image preparation, and the Zoom tool used to view each of the test patterns in turn.
- The top line of 19 lightness values should all be visible
- The highlights detector shades should be visible. The 2 lightest shades of yellow may tend to merge
- On the blacks detector The number 10 should be visible. Some detail may be just visible to the left of number 10.
- Look for good flesh tones, an absence of colour cast in the bridal white dress and mono image.
- All other colours should look realistic.
If members monitors show all these points then their jpeg images will be optimised when viewed on the club projector.
