14th May

Chelmsford Camera Club held their annual awards for members, who competed in various classes. Bruce Grey won the projected images class with 'Hanging On'. Class 1 monochrome was won by Trevor Burley for his picture of 'Cwmorthin Valley Path'. This also won the best monochrome print cup. Class 2 monochrome was also won by Trevor with class 3 victory going to Ann Burley with 'Moroccan Doorway'. Class 1 colour was won by Ray Lawrence with 'Sunset at Paper Mill Lock'. This also won the best colour print cup, and as Ray is still in the Entry level he also won the best entry level colour print cup too. Well done Ray. Class 2 was won by Trevor Burley with 'Young Monk on Train'. Class 3 was won by Dennis Clarke with 'Maldon at Low Tide'. Class 1 slides was won by Brian Oliver for 'Bluebell Walk' which also won the best slide cup. Class 2 was won by Arnold Cleaver for 'Ready to Go' with class 3 honours going to Pat Frewin for 'Mycenae Fungi'. Cups were won by Trevor Burley, Ray Lawrence, Dennis Clarke, Brian Oliver, Arnold Cleaver, Pat Frewin and Bruce Grey.

7th May

Chelmsford Camera Club held their final projected image competition of the year, judged by Phil Ricketts of Brentwood. The digital slide competition was won by Bruce Gray with a beautiful photograph of Chalkney Wood. The entry level slide competition was won by Brian Oliver with his photograph of a tree stump with flowers. The advanced level slide section was won by Malcolm MacGregor with an abstract shot entitled 'Yellow Cross Ceiling'. The camera club will next meet in September on Wednesdays at Moulsham Mill. There will be an announcement in the 'Go' section of the Essex Chronicle in August to remind you! Hope to see you there.

30th April

Chelmsford Camera Club hosted the annual CAPS competition for camera clubs in the Chelmsford area. It was ably judged by Ron Tear. Photofold came first with 65.5 points, closely followed by Chelmsford with 63 points and South Woodham Ferrers in 3rd place with 62.5. The best image was submitted by the Mill Group entitled 'The Gig'. Chelmsford camera club's final meeting this year is on the 14th May with their annual awards competition where members will compete against each other. Anyone who is interested in joining the Camera Club will be very welcome to come along on the 14th at 7.30 to Moulsham Mill where they will be warmly welcomed. They can then find out what will be happening next year when the club recommences in September.

9th April

Chelmsford camera club held their final print competition for the year. Ray Lawrence won both the monochrome and colour sections of the entry level print competition with to pictures titled 'White Rhino' and 'South China Tiger'. The judge was Bernard Smith, who kept members and their guests entertained with stories of his naval past and funny things that have happened to him in his life as a photographer. The advanced monochrome print section was won by Mike Daly with his pic called 'British Museum'. Mike also won the advanced colour section with an excellent print of a Pelican. With only a few meetings left in the year, new members are encouraged to come along to Moulsham Mill on a Wednesday evening at 7.30 and see what we do.

26th March

Chelmsford Camera Club held a projected image competition, judged by Chris Thurman from Billericay. The digital image competition was won by Bruce Grey with a picture titled 'Byron Bay'. The entry level slide competition was won by Brian Oliver with a picture of Monet's sunlight garden. Colin Birch won the advanced slides with a beautiful picture of golden woodlands titled 'Walking the Dog'. There are just a few weeks left of our photographic year so why not come along and see for yourselves what a great club we are. New members are always warmly welcomed and there are many experienced photographers around only too keen to answer technical questions (or even simple ones!). Anyone interested in joining, or just coming along for a look-see should either come to Moulsham Mill in Chelmsford next wednesday at 7.30pm or phone Veronica Rice on 01245 226152. The next meeting is on Wednesday 9th April when the final print competition will take place.

5th March

Chelmsford Camera Club held their 4th digital and slide competition ofthe season. Brian Oliver won the entry level slide competition with an excellent picture titled 'Child Snatchers Beware'. The advanced slide competition was won by Barry Henshaw with an evocative picture of grasses in the snow in Japan. The strongly contested didital image competition was won by Terry McDonald with another snow scene!. The next meeting on Wednesday 19th March is a member's AV (audio visual competition). 27th February

Chelmsford camera club was treated to an excellent talk by the well known landscape photographer Paul Foley. His talk was centered on the photography of south western America. This included the famous Death Valley. His pictures have no doubt inspired many members in the camera club to consider visiting these somewhat unknown areas. On Wednesday 12th March Ann Miles will be coming to the club to give a talk on 'monochrome and a bit of colour'. Ann is a London Salon worker so the image she will be presenting will, no doubt, be 'top notch'. If anyone thinks they would like to come along and see Ann and her pics should arrive at the Moulsham Mill Centre in Chelmsford for 7.30. 20th February

Chelmsford Camera Club held their print competition on the 20th February. Ray Lawrence won both the colour and monochrome classes in the entry level. The advanced level monochrome was won by Pat Frewin with her print entitled 'Passing the Time of Day'. The advanced level colour was won by Veronica Rice with her excellent print of a Tawny Eagle. The competition was judged by Heather Clarke of Harlow. The Camera Club meets every wednesday evening from September to May at the Moulsham Mill Centre in Chelmsford from 7.30 till 10.00pm. New members are very welcome whether they are already photographers or just thinking about taking up the hobby. Once a month classes are held on Thursday evenings on subjects such as 'using photoshop' or 'portraits'.

30th January 2007

On Wednesday 30th January the Chelmsford Camera Club held its annual 'Panel of Three Prints Competition' for the Burley Cup. The competition was well supported and the judge Dr Roger Winter had a very hard job picking the award winners. Highly commendeds were awarded to Ken Dawe (panel of 3 pub signs), Melvin Frewin (panel of veined rocks) & Ann Burley (panel of 3 gypsy girls). In third place was Pat Frewin with her panel entitled Samo Graffiti. Second place went to Bruce Grey for his panel Inclement Weather. The Burley cup was won by Pat Frewin with her shots of lazy times entitled 'Passing the Time of Day'.

23rd January 2008

Chelmsford Camera Club held a projected image competition. It was judged by Mr Peter Smith from Ilford. Brian Oliver won the entry level slide competition with a lovely picture of a Belgian alleyway. The advanced level slides was won by Robert Scott with a picture entitled 'Airborne'. The well supported digital images competition was a closely fought battle but eventually the winning picture was chosen; it was Terry McDonald's picture of a Frosty Morning with two black horses grazing against a backdrop of snow. The club's next meeting on Wednesday 6th February will be spent viewing the winning slides from the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain's 2007 exhibition. This would be well worth seeing for anyone new to photography as it would show them what to eventually aim for!

9th January 2008

Chelmsford Camera Club met for the first time in 2008 for a print competition, judged very fairly by Marilyn Steward. Ray Lawrence won both the monochrome and colour in the entry level class. Trevor Burley won both the advanced monochrome and colour sections.

12th December

Chelmsford Camera Club held their annual xmas cheese and wine evening on the 12th december. Digital images from the RPS annual exhibition were shown followed by a quiz. Members then enjoyed a wonderful feast of christmas eats and drinks before wishing all the joys of the season. The next meeting is on Wednesday 9th January with a prints competition. Why not start the new year with a new hobby? Come along any wednesday evening and see what we can offer you. A warm welcome is always on the menu! We meet at Moulsham Mill near the Army & Navy Roundabout at 7.30pm.

14th November

Chelmsford Camera Club held their second projected image competition of the year. Brian Oliver won the entry level digital image with his excellent picture of a Bluebell Picnic. The advanced digital image section was won by Pat Frewin with a stunning image of a parasol mushroom in close up. The slide section was won by Ann Burley with her picture of Three Young Nuns. The camera club meets every Wednesday at the Moulsham Mill Centre in Chelmsford at 7.30 pm. Once a month there are classes held in Great Baddow to help members perfect their camera techniques. 31st October 2007

Chelmsford camera club were treated to an excellent talk on photographing natural history in close up by Roger Hance on Wednesday 31st October. He started his talk by showing us all of the kit he used to get his internationally acclaimed photographs. During his slide show he also told the assembled members some of the 'tricks of the trade' used by professionals. The camera club has once again proved it is the foremost camera club in the area by coming first in the Baddow Monoprint Competition. Anyone who is interested in coming along on a wednesday evening to see whether the club 'is for them' should telephone Veronica Rice on 01245226152. Members please note that there is no meeting on Wednesday November 7th, but will be back on the next wednesday with a projected images competition.

24th October 2007

Chelmsford Camera Club, which meets every Wednesday at 7.30pm in the Moulsham Mill Centre near the Army & Navy roundabout held a print competition. It was judged very competently by Allan Hale from Royston. At entry level Ray Lawrence won both the monochrome and colour sections with prints entitled 'Yamaha', a study of the engine, and 'Coloured Wash' a photo of harbourside lanterns. In the advanced section Trevor Burley won the monochrome with his print of a fishing fleet and Mike Daly with his striking picture of a guardsman on duty. The next meeting at the Mill will be on Wednesday 14th November when a projected image competition will be staged. Anyone interested in joining the club will be warmly welcomed even if you are only thinking of buying a camera! Details can be obtained from Veronica Rice on 01245 226152.
